My Dear Friend of Democracy,

My three-week trip through the Western Balkans is coming to an end. Thank you for reading the digital postcards I often wrote while taking the train.

And: Why not travel to the countries yourself? People here have probably never lived as freely and with such prosperity as they do today. That doesn't mean that everything is good. By far not. Democracy is still a young plant here. But it does mean that this region offers every reason to discover and support it.

In any case, I have every intention of coming back.
