Dear Friends of Democracy,
What a day for a liberal and free Türkiye!
The opposition has won widely in high-stakes local elections.
The mayors of the Turkish opposition party CHP have been mainly confirmed in their offices, for example, the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara, Ekrem Imamoglu (photo, right) and Mansur Yavaş (left).
Congrats!

Also, some input about the winning party CHP: The acronym stands for Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, in English: Republican People's Party. CHP is a Kemalist and social democratic political party. It is the oldest political party in Turkey, founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the first president and founder of the modern Turkish Republic. It is currently the second largest party in Grand National Assembly with 129 lawmakers, behind the ruling conservative Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
See you in Europe,
