My Dear Friend of Democracy,
I walked past this car in Berlin recently.
The bumper sticker reminded me that a functioning market economy and a functioning democracy have one central thing in common.
It is that people can follow their wishes. Because they have choices.
If societies function, in politics, people can choose between different politicians and parties and, in economic matters, people can choose between various products and services.
That's a blessing.
Because then, for instance, we don't have to buy things from people we don't like.
