Let's get out (and show your support for a democratic Europe)
#419
Friend of Democracy,
What comes to mind when you think of Europe?
It stands for so many things. So much good. And so much bad. For the Enlightenment. For inventions. Conquest. Colonisation. Extermination. Also for democracy.
Today, 9 May, is Europe Day.
It commemorates the 1950 Schuman Declaration, when French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman proposed pooling European coal and steel production — the proposal that became the foundation of today’s European Union. It’s celebrated annually across the EU with open-door events at EU institutions, concerts, and civic activities.
How are you spending Europe Day?
Among other things, I was at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and attended an event organised by Pulse of Europe.
Let’s get out and make our voices heard.
Long live democratic Europe!
See you in Democracy,
Johannes Eber
