My Dear Friend of Democracy,
There was a time in Germany (and not only in Germany) when every village had at least one inn. People met there, discussed, argued and (mostly) got along again.
The downward trend is continuous in Germany. In 2002, there were over 190,000 restaurants; 20 years later, there were only 158,000.
Do these numbers have an impact on the social climate? Could it be that since we all live in our digital bubbles and primarily only meet with people like us, we have forgotten how to tolerate differences? Is digitalisation promoting division in society?
In a nutshell: Do we need more inns and less social media?
See you in Europe,
Johannes
We certainly do!
And people to populate them.
